Digits Write MCP and Locked Periods

Digits added write access to its MCP server, so AI agents such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can edit transactions, bills, invoices and the chart of accounts, plus Locked Periods, which route any edit to a closed month into a review queue.

Why it matters

For bookkeepers and CPA firms on Digits who want AI agents to do ledger work, not just read it. Locked Periods are meant to keep agent (and staff) edits to closed months from posting without a manager’s approval.

What's new

Taken from the maker's own announcement, release notes or product pages. Claims about speed, accuracy or results are the maker's, not ours.

Worth a look if: Your firm keeps client books in Digits and you want an AI assistant to recategorize, book entries or draft invoices with manager sign-off on closed months.

Worth knowing: Giving an AI agent write access to a general ledger is a client-data and internal-controls decision; review which roles and clients are connected. The post includes a customer speed claim we did not verify.
